Just curious what the process is for prior CG looking to enlist in the reserves.  I was in just shy of 8 years and have been out just under 2 years now.  Do I need to go back through boot again?  Is there a program for prior service?  I have a honorable discharge and reentry code is RE1.  I contacted a recruiter and was told they hold interviews the last wednesday of every month and that I could meet a recruiter then.   Just trying to get some more information.  Thanks.

It would depend on some things, such as your rate when you got out, etc. If your rate isn't open in your area, you would have to choose another and possibly go through DEPOT. Contact your local recruiter to find out more.
You can meet the standard, or you can set the standard. It's your choice.

When I was in boot camp there was a BM1 there that got out and wanted back in and he had to go though the full 8 weeks and start out at e3. But at the same time there was a BMC in that got out and wanted back in and was in depot as a first class. Ive heard you have 1 year when you get out to go back. If you dont then you go back to depot. Im wondering if the BM1 in the full boot camp was a trouble maker. But I heard they were getting rid of depot and everyone had to do 8 weeks, even prior service. But thats just a rumor I heard.

That's not always true. It always depends on what your rate/rating was when you got out. If you got out 6 months ago as a YN2, the CG won't take you back because there isn't a need for YN2's. Getting back into the CG has always been a little tricky, but these days it's especially tough.

And there's nothing being passed to the recruiting field about DEPOT going away, so until that happens, it will be business as usual.
