My husband served 6 years active duty navy. He got out June 27,2011 and the civilian life is NOT fOr us. We hate it. We called a recruiter in TN considering that's the closest to us and haven't heard back. He got out as an FC2, secret clearance, two deployments December 2007 and Jan 2011. my question is does he have a shot at getting in to the coast guard. Or what can we do. I realize getting out was stupid and now we realize it. We miss it and want it back!

I have no idea what an FC does, but if the CG doesn't have them he'll have to come in as an E-3. With more than 6 years of prior service I'm not sure if he's eligible. I won't have the regs in front of me until tomorrow.

FC is what our old FT's were. So no, he won't qualify to come in as an E-4 or above. He would have to repeat basic training over again and enlist as an E-3. Once he's at his first duty station for four months, he can place his name on the wait list for an A school. The wait times for our schools are between 1-3 years depending on the job he chooses. Like Gears stated above, I'm not sure he can enlist with that many years of prior service. I believe the cutoff is 5 years.

The only problem is that ET is not on the Open Rate List (ORL). A rate would have to be on the open rate list in order to try to bring a member in as an E-4 or above. The latest Open Rate List (2012) can be viewed here, specifically Paragraph 4:
