    How will I be assigned to a location. I live near San francsisco, will i have a good chance of being stationed there? Or my second choice which would be Ventura.

    If you are going active, you will fill out a dream sheet in bootcamp. You pick your top 3 districts, and those can be huge. The CG does not like stationing people near their home of record. So while there is a chance, it is very, very small.

    no one in my company was stationed where they wanted except the ones that had gaurenteed district. which I don't think is offered anymore. honestly your joining the military... how many service men/ women do you know that serve active duty from home?

    You are getting paid to travel and live in new places. Why would you stay where you are from?

    You will not be stationed within 100 miles of the city you enlist in for your first assignment.
    You can meet the standard, or you can set the standard. It's your choice.
