    Hi Everyone,

My daughter is 17 and is in the process of joining the CG. She is scheduled for boot camp in October then on to BM "A" school in Jan 08.  I have a concern and a question.

    1) in the past 9 months she has had 1 auto collison and 1 speeding ticket-will this keep her from being accepted?

    2) her recruiter says she has to wait for boot camp because she wants "A" school and they no longer let her go to boot camp, then a duty station while she waits for "A" school. True? I would like to see her go to boot camp asap before something else happensshocked

    Mom,

It sounds as if she's under the guaranteed school program. If so, the slot may be locked in for her. It's give and take with any program. The most cost effective way is to send her to boot then directly to A school. Sending her to a unit after boot then to A school would entail two moves vice one. They may have built in a couple weeks of play for leave and in case minor issues crop up during boot camp. Also, if she asks to go early they may be able to accommodate but without the guaranteed school billet.

Regardless, she needs to disclose to her recruiter the speeding ticket. I would disclose the accident too. She needs all this cleared up before she ships out in October.

Don't sweat the ticket unless she gets another. Then it starts to show a trend of disregarding authority (and law) and could, operative word - could, become a hindrance.

Good luck and take the keys away smilewinkgrin

    Thanks so much XShipRider,

My husband ( who is a cop , by the way ) thought its not too much of concern unless like you said, it happens again.  She's a pretty good kid but this last ticket threw me into a tizzy.  Shes on "work/gym" only for driving for the next 30 days with No One in the car.  She has her physical tomorrow at MEPS.

I dont know about the guaranteed school program. I totally understand about it being more cost effective to go directly to A school.

Keep your fingers crossed for us.

    Ty again,
    Colleen

Can someome clarify something for me ?

It appears that at the physical you may or may not get sworn in - if you dont swear in at the physical, how soon does it normally take place?

    Thanks !

    Hi Colleen,

My son had his first physical, about the same time he took his ASVAB - then the day before he left for boot camp, he had his final physical and they swore him in at that time.

    That was our experience.....

    Good luck to your daughter!
