Okay so I have a hiring interview with the Coast Guard in Denver on the 21st of August. This is my second interview, and on the first interview they told me I was a good candidate but they didn't have any openings yet, they would have me come down once they received their FIYs.

I got a 95 on my ASVAB, and have 37 college credits. They weren't very good grades, but my major was Aerospace Engineering (literally rocket science) at Virginia Tech.

I did have an interview on the 31st of July, but the recruiter called me a week before and pushed it back 3 weeks to the 21st of June. I live 4 hours away from Denver, and they know this.

I am currently in Navy DEP, have a rescue swimmer contract for the Navy that was really tough to qualify for, but I would rather be a rescue swimmer in the Coast Guard, so I informed recruiters on both ends of my wish to be dis-enrolled from Navy DEP if the Coast Guard accepts me.

Would they bother to have me come down for a second interview if they weren't going to hire me? I'm really worried.

I can't really answer your question, however my hiring interview is on the same day in Denver (I live near Boulder). Good luck!

Recruiters names are fine. Just please don't post anything like cell phones or emails, anything personal. But saying I worked with so and so or I spoke to Petty Officer whats his name... That's fine.

I'm in Greeley, going through the same recruiting office.

Was supposed to go to MEPS last Wednesday. They changed everything into a one-day ASVAB/Physical, but forgot to change their reporting times on the instructions. Had to reschedule it for the 22nd.

Anyway. Good to see others are in the area. PM me if you guys are interested in chit-chatting.

My recruiter is Petty Officer Brian Jerrit. Do you think that everyone that is going for the interview is going to get in? This is our second interview, why would they bother if they didn't think we were good candidates?

No one here can tell you the odds. A second interview isn't a bad thing. But, it's not a guarantee. Be patient and stay healthy.

Brian is my recruiter too. He told me the same thing, and I haven't even been to MEPS yet. Don't sweat it, dude. Take the fact that you're still in the game as a good thing.

I started this journey with the Denver office back in January and just received my ship date today. Don't sweat it be yourselves and just remember its going to be a waiting game from here on out. Good Luck guys!
