Can anyone confirm the maximum age to be accepted into the CG's pilot training program? I will graduate a month before my 27th birthday and plan to submit my OCS package right after graduation. It is my ambition to fly helicopters for the CG.
I've read 27, I've read 31 and I've also read the CG only takes pilots with prior service.
I am a civilian with no prior military service.
    Thanks!

I don't know the answer to the bulk of your questions. I'll eave that to one of our capable recruiters.

However... THERE IS ZERO TRUTH IN THE STATEMENT THAT THE CG ONLY TAKES PRIOR SERVICE PILOTS. They do take prior service pilots. But there are also a lot of pilots that never set foot behind a "steering wheel" of a plane before (Sorry Sardaddy, I have no clue what it is called.) and they have fabulous careers as pilots. I have heard that rumor quite often and it is anything but the truth!

Well that's good to know! I'm hoping that it's 31.
I'm hoping I get selected for OCS.
I'm hoping to finish school quickly ha.

    "steering wheel" of a plane

    Yoke? Collective? Those seem familiar.

So essentially, if you're within age regs to be selected for OCS, you're also within regs to be selected for flight training?

Sardaddy will have to step in for the Flight School age limits. I can only reference the OCS age limits.

According to the flight solicitation message that just came out yesterday, the member cannot turn 31 prior to November 7th for the January selection board.

No age or visual acuity waivers are being entertained.

Oh, and the "Steering wheel" is called a yoke so gears is a winner. A collective is used in a helicopter for the pilot to go up and down. The control "stick" in the helicopter is called a cyclic.

Ok that's good to know. Thank you.
Also, is that something you elect to do while in OCS?
And how competitive is it? I'm sure it's not just a matter of good vision and depth perception.

Sardaddy, in regards to the visual acuity waivers, was that message strictly for pilots, or does it include all aircrew?

That was a solicitation for pilots only. Aircrew are selected in a whole differentl way. There is no selection panel. They do have to meet standard flight physical requirements.

I was unsure if the message was dealing with flight school selection or the flight physical in general. Thank you for clearing that up!

For some reason "yoke" popped into my head but I thought no, that's the thing you put over oxen to plow a field. I should have gone with my guess. But thanks for the answer. Gears is just a smarty pants.
