I thought I saw somewhere within the forums where you could figure out your recruits company? My son starts boot camp today and I was wondering what company he was in. I know he'll contact me in a few days with the info but just knowing the company might make me feel closer if you know what I mean.

He should be Oscar-187. Not sure which hall though.

Shouldn't it be November-187?? The last companies were Lima & Mike, last week there was no forming company.

Is there more than one company forming? Not sure if the hurricane set anything back or not. My son was thinking it was going to be November 187 company. He's on the plane to Philly as I'm writing this. I'm sure all the recruits are nervous/anxious. I know I am. I'm thinking the 8 weeks should move fast for them. Graduation date is possibly January 18th? Is that correct?

Old Guard is probably right. I didn't check the site before I blurted that out. The 8 weeks will move much faster for you than it does for him.

January 18th is correct. What we tell everyone... the days will drag by but the weeks will fly! When the 8 weeks are said and done you'll be thinking "Wow, that WAS fast!!"

My daughter reported yesterday for boot camp. Any possibility of knowing her company or platoon number? They got to Cape May @ 8:45 last night. Thanks.

If there is only one company, she will be Papa-187. If there is a split company once again, it will be either Papa or Quebec 187. Best of luck to your girl.

Thanks, how long does it usually take for the recruit to get their first letter or postcard out? My daughter is working on her fourth day and we haven't heard from her yet. (Dad is freeking out)Is there a way to find out her address before she mails us an address? Also do you know if they split companys on 4Nov?

They did not split companies, I think you mean December 4th?!?! So she is Papa-187. She is in Healy Hall. I have updated the information on the threads in the FAQ section and the Family section. You will find the mailing address there. Congratulations. It takes about a week for that first form letter.

When you receive letters, if they don't all seem upbeat, don't worry too much. That is fairly normal. Keep in mind the recruits write on Sundays. The letter gets mailed on Monday, you get it on Wednesday or Thursday. By then almost an entire week has passed and feelings cahnge quickly there. So be supportive, encouraging but keep the worry to a minimum. By the time you respond, she gets it and reads it, she has already sent you another letter and the tone will probably be much different. LOL

The days will drag, but the weeks will fly past!

Thanks so much. I just feel so lost, I have been through Parris Island back in '72 so I know what she is facing. I guess we all sweat the small stuff when it comes to our kids. Thanks Old Guard for your quick and informitive replys. I am sure you havent heard the last of me! (hehehehe)
