Currently employeed at a federal site in Colorado working armed security and have a clearance. I am also a proud member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
I grew up in Washington state and moved to Colorado in 2007. I decided to pursue a law enforcement career and put my self through schooling for it. I successfully completed the Peace Officer Standards and Training academy as a squad leader. After completion of the academy I started my search for a job and was not successful. Commonly I was selected as one of the top 5 canidates but many times rejected due to either prior military, prior experience or others with higher education beating me out. I decided to look in to other aspects of public safety and remembered that I always had a fondness of the Coast Guard. (fishing trip when I was young met a coastie and was very friendly)
Please look at this thread if you want to see where I am in the process: http://www.uscg.org/Forum/aft/14902.aspx
I have dabbled in Construction, Auto mechanics, and Law Enforcement. I am really hoping that I can get started in the Coast Guard soon. The auxiliary has shown me so much and I continue to learn something new everytime I go.
Anyone else from Colorado on here?
