I've been searching on the forum for a long time in 'guest-mode' looking for info on the US Coast Guard.
First I want to thank everyone on this forum especially the Mods and Coasties for their help in making this site possible. It has been a great resource in my search for answers when I was unable to get them from anywhere else.
Originally from Montana, I moved to the sunny busy city Miami FL but still have a great love for the outdoors. Whether Riding bikes/hiking in the Everglades, fishing, snorkeling, beach combing, whatever...I love America's Outdoors!
I am a 23 y/o male who has been interested in joining the USCG Reserves after witnessing how much of a crucial role they play in my community (South Florida). I have a love for Law Enforcement, Emergency Response, and Emergency Preparation so the USCG to me was the perfect family to be a part of.
After much thinking and juggling work, college, etc I have finally reached an open point in my life where I am ready to start my transition in the USCG.
So far I have met with my local recruiter, taken the ASVAB, and am just waiting to hear back the results so I can either go foreword and start the next process (Physical Exam) etc or hear the news that I will need more points and retake the ASVAB. Either way, I am fully ready.
From what I understand it may be a very long and strenuous process, so I am already mentally prepared to continue with this undertaking in a very patient and focused manner. Just take it as it comes, keep trying, and remember the bigger the sacrifice the bigger the reward!
