I know I have to return to MEPS. Do I have to do the whole medical screen again? If by some chance something happens between now and when I go back to MEPS do I need to submit paper work for it? As in a broken bone, concussion or some type of other medical problem? Or do they not ask? I'm just curious if I should hide in my house instead of being out and about because of the fear of me getting hurt and then DQ'd for that reason. |

If you stub your toe too hard and it is bruised, they can temporarily DQ you and push back your ship date. God forbid you break a bone, get a concussion, need dialysis for renal failure... forget it. If you have a runny nose and take a chug of NyQuil, this they do not need to know about. If you have a bodily injury, hospitalization, accident, arrest... yes, documentation will be needed for all. And yes, a DQ, permanent or temporary, could happen. It generally doesn't... but.... We had a young man on the forum... he was all set, good to go, I think he may have even DEP'ed. He got pulled over and now had a DUI. Can you hear the brakes screeching to a halt??? Luckily his recruiter saw a great Coastie in this young man. He was able to ship... a year later after all the legal wrangling was done, fines paid, license restored, etc. So locking yourself in your house mught be a bit extreme but it might also not be a horrible idea. |

I don't know how other people's experiences worked, but when my waiver was approved, I didn't have to go back for an extra trip to MEPS. My next time at MEPS was to swear in and then they only did some basic things (height, weight, pregnancy test, meeting with the doctor, etc). If something happens between now and when you ship you have to submit the paperwork. Additionally, at every MEPS visit, you will likely have a meeting with a doctor who will ask you about any changes in your health, medications, doctor visits, etc. |

I figured so. I had a UTI a few weeks ago and I assumed I would have to submit paper work on it, that didn't worry me due to it just being a bacterial infection that resolved. Yet a few days ago I whacked my head and I've had this dull headache that I'm getting checked out tomorrow. I'm hoping its just allergies that are sustaining my headache not a concussion. Seems like every few weeks its a new problem. |
