Hi, I recently found out about some of the opportunities with the Auxiliary and id like to speak to someone regarding joining the Auxiliary, particularly near Lake lanier in Georgia.
Its been a week since I filled out the form on the main website but I haven't received a response. Can anyone help? BTW, does the background check require references?
Also i have a question. I read about the commercial fishing vessel examination program which I think is interesting. http://live.cgaux.org/?p=2197
Im sure Id have to travel to the shore to get to a boat to perform inspections, but do the boats come to the coast guard station for the inspection? Are any travel expenses covered? Roughly how long would it take to become an examiner?
Also Im 29y/o and recently put myself thru the police academy and im looking for something active to do when im not at my desk job. is it possible to help onboard an actual coast guard vessel for a weekend every now and then? (I know, no LE allowed) How does this work and what are the requirements? Where would I take the physical tests?
Thanks for reading.
