Im in a pickle and im just trying to get some opinions voiced.

At this point in my career, putting in for a Station or ANT would be a good decision and make me go further in my career. Im a 2nd class that has all of my time on cutters. Ive got good stations and ANTS on my eresume and im ready to put them in.
     BUT---
I dont want to be at a station, I could do an ANT just fine i think, and picking another cutter would piss the detailer off. What i really want to do is try my hand at an MSST/MSRT specifically because it looks amazing and id love to be a part of that, plus the tactical coxswain letter etc.
What my real question is--as a Boatswains Mate, Would a pick like that put me behind in my career? Is it a dead end path to take? etc.

If you aspire to be an XPO or OIC one day, the station or ANT would be the better pick. Remember that once you make BMC, the only way to keep advancing is by getting OIC certified.
You can meet the standard, or you can set the standard. It's your choice.

For BMs Stations are pretty important for you to screen for XPO or OIC. Sooner or later you'll probably end up at one.

Im at STA Kauai and its mandatory for us to get Tac cox. So just look for stations billeted for it. We only have 47s too. No BM2s leaving this year tho!

I was the same way, I came off of a priority two cutter and wanted another cutter, but they skipped all of them on my list and gave me my first station pick.

Its bittersweet, I miss being underway but station life isn't bad
Take what you like and leave the rest behind.
