I have been in the reserves for 4 years, and am currently an E-5. I have the opportunity to integrate to active duty, but will have to drop to an E-3 and will be placed on a cutter in D13 (most likely)

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this process, or knows anything about what might deny me from being selected to integrate.

Also, if anyone knows what it will be like for me to break in on a cutter. I have a BTM qual as well as all my weapons quals, basic crewman and basic engineer qual, been through lams as well.

The process is just now beginning, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out, all input would be greatly appreciated.

What's your rate? If you're an OS, FS or HS, you're in luck...http://www.uscg.mil/announcements/a...LCOAST.txt

Who told you that you needed to drop to E-3? These are detailer and EPM decisions that usually aren't decided until you have full approval.

How have you been making out with this? Did you lose your rate designator? I have been talking to the recruiter about doing this.

    Pbzeppelin-

I'm still in the process of integrating. I signed my conditional release from the reserves about a month ago, and now I'm playing the waiting game. I don't know how long it will take to hear anything new. Last time I talked with my recruiter, I was told that my status as well as "hundreds" of others are still pending at HQ.

I will be losing my designator and going from an E-5 to E-3.

It's my understanding that OS, FS, HS, will integrate straight across, keeping rate and pay grade.

MK, and BM will go from their prospective rank to SNBM, or FNMK in most cases.

again this is all just info I've recieved over the past month, it could vary from person to person.

I'll keep this thread updated on my process.

Ps. If any recruiters have any insight on the process it would be great to hear as well!

HS has a years long wait for A school, I'd like to know Reservists can cross right over.

I am in the same boat. I am a ME2 who is getting dropped down to SN. This is after 5.5 years in, a deployment to the Middle East, and a ton of classes. I guess thats just the price I have to pay though. I just received orders last week to a cutter in AK, but have had no other correspondence with anyone since then. I'm not exactly sure what my next move is...
