this thursday! i just had a couple questions...

if something is not right in my contract or not what i wanted/agreed to, can it be corrected right then and there? or would i have to wait and come back when they fix it and print it up again or whatever?

e.g. if i wanted to sign up for 4 years and in my contract it says 6 (or vice versa)

    etc...?

also, any advice or questions i should ask while im there?

my actual recruiter won't be there, because he is going back to Cape May to go to Recruiting school, but his boss (a CG Chief) is going to go over my packet with me to sign. I've met and talked to him before but i just hope everything goes smoothly...

They should be familiar with the pages of that packet so thoroughly that they will have it all correct while you are there in the office. I suggest you read it before you go and put some sticky notes ont the places where you have questions and it needs explaining. You should leave that office knowing 100 percent what you signed and agreed to.

One thing to be aware of is that most of the contract will be 'boiler-plate' language and is non-negotiable. The items that are negotiable are usually in the form of standard options that you select from.

It's like buying a car: The car may come standard with a 4 cylinder engine and an optional 6 cylinder. If you tell them you want an 8 cylinder, they won't agree and haggling won't change their mind.

So, like Kicket said, just read and understand it and make sure they recorded your selections correctly.

Good luck and I hope it goes well. At least you're only signing away a few years of your life. Wait until it comes time to buy a house... freaked

    thanks for the replies :)

so is this the last step involved with my recruiter before i go back to MEPS and wait to ship out?? everything else is done, my physical, asvab, eQUIP, background check, etc..

and, ...ive been studying my helmsman too. are they going to be expecting all the recruits to know or have a basic understanding of the helmsman before we arrive or will we learn it as we go along in basic??

You'll learn it, one way or the other, before you leave boot camp. One way is just harder than the other.
