Coast Guard Diving program.  Eligible candidates must be rank E-5, or
E-4 with all eligibility criteria met for competing for E-5 in their
current rating.  Interested members who are tour complete in AY16
must follow the application procedures outlined in Ref A.  Those
applicants who successfully screen and graduate from Second Class
Diver training at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center
(NDSTC) will have the opportunity to request a change in rating to
DV. Questions concerning lateral should be addressed to the program
    manager in paragraph 5.b.
    2. Job Description: Divers are the Coast Guard's experts in
subsurface operations, performing the full spectrum of Coast Guard
missions in the underwater domain.  They operate diving equipment,
air supply systems, SONARs, underwater power tools, and remotely
operated vehicles.  Divers conduct searches, recoveries,
investigations, and underwater repair in a wide variety of subsurface
conditions.  Divers operate across the globe, in equatorial and
arctic temperatures, in pristine and contaminated waters, and in
unlimited to zero visibility. Following initial diver training,
Divers are stationed at one of the Regional Dive Lockers (RDL).
Subsequent assignments include instructor positions at the Naval
Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) or Aviation Technical
Training Center (ATTC) Underwater Egress Facility. Prospective divers
are screened through a one week physical fitness and aquatic
adaptability assessment once a year in Cape May, NJ. If a prospective
diver successfully passes the assessment, he or she is scheduled to
attend Second Class Diver (2C) training at NDSTC in Panama City, FL.
Second Class Divers are trained for 20 weeks in SCUBA and Surface
Supplied diving operations, dive planning, diving medicine, diving
physics, and underwater tools.  Follow-on training for supervision of
diving operations is provided to senior enlisted through the First
Class Diver (1C) curriculum at NDSTC. To be a diver, you must be
physically fit and confident in the water.  You should have

It would be VERY uncharacteristic of Bells to post something that was NOT FOR INTERNET RELEASE to post here. She is very mindful of what can and cannot be released. If she posts it, I have the utmost trust that it is 100% allowable.
