Greetings and welcome to the forum. Have you actually spoken to a recruiter yet? If I recall correctly, the CG doesn't use the FALANT for testing for color blindness, so you will have to use the test that's administered at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station, the place where your medical exam is done).
You need to make absolutely sure your wife is good with this decision. The fact that she's new to the US and that she's expecting are hard enough, but couple that with the fact that you'll be in boot camp for 8 weeks, and she could really be facing a tough time. Something else to know is that you may be assigned to a cutter as your first duty station out of boot camp. You could potentially graduate and then be gone for a 90 day patrol soon after. Is she willing to accept that? I'm not trying to discourage you at all, but just point out the unique set of circumstances you're in and to make sure you've really given this a lot of thought.
You need to get in touch with a recruiter immediately if you're serious about this. Since you're in L.A., you have two options. If you're in the San Fernando Valley, the Ventura office is an option, otherwise you'll contact the office in Norwalk. http://www.gocoastguard.com/about-u...CA#results
Best of luck!
