I am going to be reporting to my unit for my first drill soon and am wondering about the "Female Air Force Overblouse" that was issued to wear with Trops instead of the tucked in short sleeve shirt. Is this untucked female shirt authorized to be worn whenever one wears Trops? Or is it only allowed to be worn when we are told we can wear it by our unit? It is something I would rather wear than the tucked in shirt with the shirt stays mostly because of the longer drive to my unit.

I believe that's for pregnant personnel only, but you may want to check the Uniform Regulation manual to be sure. Not having to wear a uniform at my assignment, I'm not really on top of this stuff anymore. As for wearing your Trops during your commute, have you thought about bringing the uniform with you and changing once you're on base, if the facilities exist?

According to the Uniform Regulations Manual (Page 3-28) the "FEMALE AIR FORCE OVERBLOUSE" is authorized for wear with the Tropical Blue uniform. There is no special circumstances and it can be worn instead of the tropical blue short sleeve. Name tag and insignia are to be displayed in the same fashion as the tropical blue short sleeve.

On a side note, my wife wears the shirt you are talking about in trops and I think it looks a lot better.

Yes, this is authorized anytime you would wear trops. They made that move about 2 or so years ago. I've been noticing alot of A-school females wearing it.

I think the tucked in one looks better if you have the short stays, and as long as your pants fit right. Mine go up to my belly button (which most people probably do but I have a really short torso so it looks weird)

I havn't bought the new shirt yet...
Take what you like and leave the rest behind.

Thank you all for the responses. I haven't worn the female air force overblouse yet, except just to try on when items were being issued during boot camp.
