    Hey everyone,

I am scheduled to go to MEPS for the first time for ASVAB/Medical Exam in a week. My paperwork and medical documents were sent over to MEPS and they gave the green light to have me come in. However, yesterday, I received a dog bite to the face and have a minor cut on my nose that required three stitches. I am scheduled to have those stitches removed on Friday, four days before MEPS. I called my recruiter first thing the next day and informed him what happened, and he said that I should just bring the medical paperwork with me to MEPS and that he will call them to make sure nothing else is needed. Does anyone have any experience with dealing with medical issues that arise in between scheduling MEPS and actually going there? I understand that discrepancies between the medical prescreen submitted to MEPS and what the MEPS doctor actually sees/discovers can result in delays or disqualifications. Should I be okay if I bring my new medical records to MEPS (for the stitches I just got) and my recruiter informs them of everything prior to me coming?

    Thanks!

Go with what your recruiter told you. They know the ins and outs of MEPS. At worst the MEPS doc will tell you to come back after your stitches are removed

The stitches will be removed before the MEPS visit. A dog bite, while awful for you, isn't really medically altering anything. It is just a scar and I'm terribly sorry. If it were one of my dogs that bit you, I would be mortified. I hope the healing is going well. This shouldn't really have any bearing on anything. Just have the medical records to show what happened, how you were treated and if the stitches will be removed before going, the final doctors care notes. Again, I'm really sorry about the dog bite, that's horrible.

Thanks for the quick replies! I will just do as my recruiter said to and bring in my new medical documents. From everything I've read on here, it seems like MEPS loves DQ-ing people, so I just want to make sure I do everything right!

Update for anyone who finds themselves in this situation: You can't go to MEPS with "new" paperwork. MEPS needs everything before they can schedule/reschedule you.

I'm guessing they'll need to reschedule you??? That stinks. But hopefully that only puts you off a week or so.

Yeah they are going to have to reschedule me for the following week. No big deal at all. More time to study for the ASVAB! I'm just getting restless, and hoping they don't need more info from me, say a vaccination record of the dog that bit me, or perhaps blood work or something. That'd really delay things.

I will keep everyone updated! Trying to learn from every experience!

Your recruiter set you up for that one. You just followed their direction and they didn't do their part. Anyhow, I'm sure you'll be fine.
