How far in advance do you have to make reservations at any of the motels or b&b's in Cape May. We are going to be there on Mar 7. Are we to late, and is there a site that a person can get phone numbers. Thanks all. Have a great day.

Check out the thread lower down called "Help with Hotel recommendation in Cape May" That may have the information you're looking for. Father of SN Powers, William T., STA Destin (S-178) |

Hey swabby, don't feel like the lone ranger. My son graduates on March 7th also and I haven't reserved anything yet either. I was told by his recruiter not to make any reservations, especially airline reservations until after you get a call on their 5th week. Some B&B's, as well as hotels there will charge one night's fee if you have to cancel due to revert. Be sure to check out each one's cancellation policy before you make a reservation. Hope this helps. Deb |

Another thought: If all else fails and you have to make or change reservations at the last possible moment; if there's nothing available in Cape May, there are at least a bazillion motel rooms in and around Atlantic City, which is only an hour away. We were told the same thing .... WAIT until after the 5th or 6th week ---- Because we are flying from California, I booked with an airline that I could make changes to easily if need be (Southwest Airlines). I also booked the Virginia Hotel because they gave me an assurance that we could change the reservation if need be.
Go onto tripadvisor.com and type in Cape May... they list all lodging, prices and REAL PEOPLE'S REVIEWS WHO HAVE STAYED IN THE FACILITY.
Good Luck ! We leave for Cape May at 3 am tomorrow ! GO VICTOR 178 !!

Yup, I'd wait until the phone call. See how things are going - get a guesstimate as to chances of getting reverted (academics, injuries, sickness, physical performance) then I'd feel more comfortable in making any reservations. I also stayed at the Virginia B&B. Great place - old yet updated rooms - flat screen cable TV - mini bar. Cape May has a Chamber of Commerce and they list all the hotels and B&B's. Also I think I recall a city map - not that you'll really need one - you can drive around the whole place in 10-15 minutes. Cape May is a quaint little place - I liked it.<!-- Edit --> Last Edited : 1/23/2008 3:41:52 AM GMT |

Not sure if you are flying into Philly, but we found a small town called Millville only about 30 minutes from Cape may. We found that it was about the half way point between the airport and Capy May.The price was also good. |

As you get closer to Graduation, you will receive a letrter from the USCG with a list of hotels, motels, B & Bs, etc. Phone numbers are included but not all places on the list are open in the winter. We stayed at a place not on the list, but if reverted, there is no fee to change your reservation date. The Star Inn has 2 bedroom/2 bath suites (called the Carriage Suites) for $125 with a small kitchenette. We had a large group with us. Four of us stayed in the Carriage Suite. The staff was very accomodating. I'd highly recommend it. |

Thank you all for your advice especially about reservations and airlines. Flying from AZ and want to get good deals. Southwest seems the best. This seems scary especially if you think your child might not make it. Just got her address. Want her to know we are behind her. |

We purchased the flight insurance as well "pook faces dad". We stayed at the Marquis de Lafayette in Cape May....less than 2 miles from the base, on the water, breakfast included, very quaint and personable, and priced well. No complaints- had a wonderful and EASY trip!
