Eric,
You do get paid while in boot camp. However most of the money is held until you graduate. You won't need much cash anyway in basic.
If you do well in boot camp you may get to chose your location.Remember though you'll be competing with many other people. Also billets ( locations) are dictated by the needs of the service.
Boot camp can be very demanding physically. Lots of running, push ups, running and more push ups. However it sounds as though you'd have no problem!
There is also class work and practical training.Coast Guard history, marine saftey, fire safety, pollution controls and more.
You will march, march and march some more. This may seem nuts at times but it helps train people into becoming a team unit. This quality may save you or your shipmates life someday. Not being dramatic, being accurate.
Once out of boot camp workdays can be long but generally liberty(time off) is also fair. 30 days paid vacation a year is pretty good too.
I'm not sure about moving your possesions. I carried very little while I was in so I can't answer that.Sorry.
Best of luck,it is a very rewarding experience.
Dan
