Hello,
I am considering enlisting in the Coast Guard reserves and have been speaking with a recruiter about my options. However, I like to at least know what options could be available to me and I've looked into the reserve officer programs as well. Based on what I've read, it appears that the only program that would remotely be possible would be the Selected Reserve Direct Commission (SRDC) program, which I meet all of the qualifications for, with the exception of being prior military.
Would enlistment in the USCG reserve meet that requirement or would it need to be active duty? Also, would I have to serve out all 8 years of my enlistment before I could apply (I am currently in my 30s) or can I put in a packet after enlisting?
Thanks all
