    Greetings,
I will be reporting soon to my first unit in St Petersburg, FL. I will be living onboard until I am qualified. I am a gun owner and I have my Texas CHL which I have resiprosity in Florida. I was wondering if anyone had any experience on bringing thier guns to thier first unit and where they had stored them. Because when I am off base I would like to carry.

    v/r,
    SN Dake.

You need to talk to your unit as everywhere is different. They might have an armory for you to store them. If not, youll have to store them yourself.

My son was a non rate living in a very nice USCG paid for apt while stationed on the Venturous at St Pete. He was told by the housing officer that firearms were not allowed in the quarters. You might just have to keep them in your trunk,

Bad idea.  All it takes is one vehicle burglary

In your trunk parked on base is still in housing and is still against housing rules. You need to speak to command. Just because states are ok with it and there is reciprocity, it doesn't mean a federal base, unit, housing will allow it. You might have to rent a storage unit or something like that to store it there if the base won't allow or there is no armory.

I also agree with Chief. The trunk is a poor solution.
