Can anyone tell me how long before I hear from my daughter in boot camp? She left a week ago and so far I haven't heard anything.

i would say in the next couple of days. i belive recruits write letters on sunday nights

You should get your official letter soon. Some recruits are given the chance to write the first Sunday, some aren't allowed that opportunity until the 2nd or 3rd week. I know it's hard to hear when you want to know what's going on... just be patient... it's coming. Honest. Once you get the first one, they'll start arriving more regularly.

MommaB it's going to arrive this week.. have you gotten the "form" letter? Gives you the address and what nots about his weeks in cape may. You will get one letter a week they are only allowed to write on Sunday's.

Thank you all for your replies. This forum was offline for a few days and I didn't know where else to go for this info. I am so glad it's back and with a new look too! I will be looking out for the form letter...thanks Pmackey.

Also, your daugher will get to call home during week 5 to let you know where she will be stationed after boot camp. Calls 'usually' start on Thursdays and go through Sunday, but have been known to be a week late. Then they will get on-base liberty at the end of week 6 when she will have another opportunity to call home if she wants to wait in the pay phone line for an hour. Then at the end of week 7 is off-base liberty. All the recruits rush to walmart to buy go-phone and spend the entire day chatting away with whomever will answer their phone!

Look on Facebook, too. There should be a page for your daughter's company. The pages start with USCG and then type in the company name and number. Example: USCG Quebec 183 or USCG Papa 183

You should find a whole bunch of other family members who have recruits in the same company.
