I am a new member here on the forum and I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer for me. First, I am finishing up my first year of college with a double major in Criminology and French and minors in Computer Science and Sociology. I have been doing some research on different branches of the military. I feel as though I am being called to join the CG. With that being said, I am really interested in the ME rate, as I have heard a lot of people are. I would love to finish college, that is why the reserves interest me the most, because I have taken 18+ hours each semester and I am a whole semester ahead of where I should be. So finishing up those degrees are important to me. I understand the availabilities of ME positions are few, especially in my area. I was just hoping you guys could give me some advice and guide me, Thank you.

I was just needing some advice on what you thought I should do regarding which Rate I should pursue. As I said, the ME is very appealing to me because my goal eventually is to do Federal Law enforcement or intelligence work. I have also looked into the IS rate. I just wanted advice on a rate and since there is such a large waiting list on IS and ME's should I wait until I graduate and then attempt to join as an officer or what?

    Greetings kywa23

i remember taking 18 credits at one point. It is exhausting! Anyhow, the reserves is a bit different than the active component. In the reserves you are filling a specific job. For that reason, you choose your rate even before shipping to bootcamp. You'll know well in advance where your unit is and what rate you will fill. Have in mind that there might not be an open ME biller (job) near you. I suggest you choose more than one rate so that you can have options. A recruiter can help you with that. He/She will know better about openings in your area.

If you want to do law enforcement you dont necessarily have to go ME. At my unit we have BMs and MKs that are LE qualified.
