I am 36 with a Bachelor in Business/Accounting and I have great interest in joining the USCG (I wish I had joined years ago!). I had enlisted in the Reserve on March 2017 and took asvab but because of work and personal agenda I dedicated year 2018 to be the year I focus all my time for USCG, if all goes well.
Thanks for my new awesome recruiter for following up with me this past week. I originally was going for SK but just recently decided to go for BM. Next step for me is MEPs physical in the next few weeks. I'd been taking good care of myself, with that said, I feel healthy and ready whenever
Why did I decide to go for BM? Other than I enjoy being in the outdoors and staying active, I like what the BM entails based on what I've been reading everywhere online. My husband owns a small boat and I feel helpless to him when I don't know what I'm doing lol thus acquiring BM new skills may make me a 'valuable asset' overtime
Mainly, I really like both the Operation and Law Enforcement side of it (and to get out of the office! lol). I've dreamt of working for the FBI as a Forensic Accountant someday so I'm hoping this will give me a good headstart or stay long-term in USCG and become a Chief Warrant Officer one day. I was told OCS is for below age 35
@ Bells or anyone that could answer, may I ask what can you tell me about CWO? My goal is to start off as a BM E3-4 and then work my way up as I earn the privilege to apply for an Officer position. Is there an age limit? How soon can I apply while in the Reserve? Would there be additional training at an Officer school?
How about BM-- anyone my age and female doing BM?? Please share your thoughts.. also, I am not a great swimmer but I am a fast learner..
Thank you all in advance.
