Hi, I have a few questions about the overseas screening process. My husband is in California right now completing A-school, he should be graduating August 3rd. I live in Texas and I'm going to stay here until I've finished my schooling (it should be in December but I may stay in Texas until April of 2018).He found out that he's going to be stationed in Alaska and we're super excited.
However, he told me that I need to complete an overseas screening to make sure I'm medically eligible. I'm in really good health, my immunizations are up to date, and I have great teeth so I'm pretty sure I'll pass that part, but I'm 21 and I have to get a pap smear done. Due to past experiences I'm terrified of any procedure that involves the speculum, I'm going to ask for anti-anxiety medication but there's still a chance I won't be able to go through with it.
So my questions are, what will happen if I can't get a pap smear done? will they send him to Alaska unaccompanied or will they change his orders to a different state?
Also my husband told me that I have to go up to California to get the screening done. I don't see why I can't get it done here in Texas since I live close to a cg base. It would be easier for me if I didn't have to take time off from work and school to get this done.
Side note, we just got married June 11th and he filed it with the ombudsman the 19th. I'm not enrolled in anything (deers, tricare, etc.) just in case it makes a difference.
