I hate to revive a topic that is already on here, but the other thread gave conflicting information.

I'm shipping out to DEPOT on Oct 1, and like any great hockey player I have decently big thighs.  When I run or play hockey I wear 9" compression shorts. During my everyday life I wear 6" compression shorts. The helmsman in my hand says I can bring 4" inseam BLACK compression shorts.  Now 4" isn't even going to reach the spot where my thighs touch (74cm tall).  I've seen a couple videos where recently graduated coasties show some clearly 6" inseam black compression shorts that they brought.

Does anyone have recent experience with this subject?  Can I wear compression shorts all the time, as I don't plan on ever wearing tighty whiteys?  I'd like to just bring 6-9 pairs (as described in the helmsman) of compression shorts. I feel pretty good that this is my one main worry, but when there is a lot of activity I want to be as comfortable as I can given the circumstances, otherwise I may end up in medical over critical levels of chaffing

Anyway, any recent experience is appreciated.

You can wear compression shorts, but 9" will most likely be too long. I am pretty sure 6" was fine, but any more than that you will definitely see it under the PT shorts. If you bring something that is out of regs, they will tell you to throw it away. If that happens, you would be left with nothing to wear, so I would suggest also bringing a few pairs of regular WHITE boxer shorts just in case. Hope that helps a little bit!

The CCs wont make you throw things away. Theyll be secured until you graduate. When I went to DEPOT a few years ago I went out of my way to buy white underwear, which I hated. The lead CC didnt care if you wore regular underwear or compression shorts. Like USCG1927 said, youre best bet is to bring a mixture of underwar so that you are safe. Besides, youll be so worried about other things that the last thing youll be concerned during DEPOT is underwear!

I found some decent pairs of shorts at Marshall's for super cheap.

Also a hockey player. Also worried about that when I went. Ended up bringing both.

Won't be an issue. Honestly, as long as they're black with no weird colors or crazy lengths, your CCs will; A) never see them(if they're rolled up when you get to Sexton Hall) or B) won't care as long as they're not obnoxious.

For reference, I graduated in May, so pretty recently.

Do the underwear have to be solid white? I'm having trouble finding white underwear that does not have a logo or lettering on the waistband. Also does the waistband have to be white also?

Solid whites. I bought mine off Amazon. Just search up white boxer briefs and you'll find TONS. I bought some not-so-cheap whiteys.. $6 a pair. Super mega comfortable though.

Logo or lettering on the waistband should fine.
