Brand new to forum. Our daughter arrived at Cape May this evening but when her call came through to us for her company and barracks name  the call was cut off by some bad phone connection. I feel awful not having the info I need to send her mail. Can anyone help me with how to retrieve that info for her? I don't want to get her in trouble by calling the wrong person because it was not her fault that their phones were cutting out. Any help would be much appreciated.

The mailing format for recruits in bootcamp will be :

    SR (Last Name, First, MI)___________________________
    Recruit Company ____________________
Healy Hall, or James Hall, or Munro Hall
    USCG Training Center
    1 Munro Avenue
    Cape May, NJ 08204-5083

However, you can address the problem by trying to contact the office and let them know you weren't able to receive your daughter's company name and barracks. They should be able to help you out.

    Hope this helps~

DO NOT CONTACT CAPE MAY! They are a little busy there. We'll find you an address, in the meantime, your daughter signed up for the military, honest, she will survive a week without mail. Let us do some legwork. You COULD call her recruiter. But DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT contact Cape May for a mailing address. That is just ridiculous.

From my understanding from recent recruits, the arrival call from Cape May is only to let you know that your loved one arrived safely. When it is time for you to have your daughter's mailing address, you will have it. These first few days are the absolute toughest on recruits. In a matter of hours, their entire existence is turned upside down, by design. The recruits have much to absorb, and need to be focused only at the tasks at hand. A letter from home in week one or two would be more of a distraction, and recruits in this stage do not need distractions. When the time is appropriate, your daughter will provide you with the contact information you need. In the mean time, your recruit needs this time to adjust to the training routine. There will be plenty of time later for reading and writing letters.

As mentioned before, calling Cape May would be a tremendous mistake. Recruits have a tough enough time not singling themselves out as it is. A call from Mamma or Daddy to the training staff could very well single a recruit out. Right about now, your recruit is memorizing her chain-of-command, and family members are not part of it.

Best of luck you your recruit. She'll be fine.
