Hello all! I've recently begun the process of applying for OCS upon graduating from college in 2019 (junior majoring in Accounting) and I've been wondering what to fill my summer with now that I don't need the typical accounting internship. I want to prepare myself as best as possible for being an officer (supposing I am accepted), but because officers handle a wide variety of jobs, I'm not entirely sure what line of work I should be pursuing in the meantime.
I've spoken with the CG Aux in the area and am planning on volunteering with them as much as possible over the coming summer, but I do also need a job to pay the bills. I'm not asking for a specific internship or job (though if you have a great recommendation, I wouldn't mind
), but rather in general, what's best? A very skill specific internship (e.g. accounting), a research position at a local University, another government job, etc. I apologize if this question has been asked before, but the search bar isn't working and I couldn't find anything with the fair amount of manual searching I did.
Oh, and unfortunately, the nearest significant body of water is about 40 minutes away, so there aren't many opportunities to get marine work.
