Good evening, forgive me this will be sort of long.
I'm looking to find out a little bit of information on what is available in Rhode Island. I am a state licensed EMT-C, and I've been looking to find ways to volunteer my time; I used to be a volunteer FF years back but unfortunately I found less drama on Jerry Springer. Wasn't sure if there was a unit operating locally that might be in need of volunteers.
My only experience on boats has been SAR in a Zodiak and recreational on a jet ski, admittedly. Some experience with high angle rescue and mustang suits, although that might be outside of AUX field...
Honestly ideally I would like to get involved with an helicopter aircrew if those exist on the Aux side-- I'm ultimately looking to get my Rotary Wing pilots license so I figure if I can get involved in one of those unit's I'd end up having a way to both get PIC hours and volunteer. But that said I also wouldn't mind getting involved in a unit that performs SAR shipboard.
A little about me FF/Rescue Driver for 2 years, EMT for 1 year, EMT-C for 2.5 years. Been in this field since Jan 2013 (FF and EMT do overlap) and I have no plans on leaving it, just looking for a better way to serve my community and country than working off private rigs to line someone elses pockets.
Sorry I know I am very new here and my first post is a question.
