Probably ought to worry about getting into the CG before anything else, based on your post in another sub forum

Chief is right but ill indulge you. Depends If you're qualified or not. If you're not, you're going through pipeline training schools. If youre not at a school, you're're getting JQR sign offs and training or doing whatever you're told needs to be done. If you're qualified, you're training, a lot. Or on a deployment. Or doing workups for a deployment.

Oh it takes about a year to two to get qualified, depending on how school classes line up and if you fail any etc.

MSRT isn't a person, it is a unit. So you don't become one. You get assigned there as a duty station. Out of boot camp, likely not going to go to one. Out of A School after you are rated, possibly. If there is an MSRT on the pick list at A School, you can ask for it. You might get it, you might not. Once in the fleet, rated, finishing your first assignment after A School, you will fill out a dream sheet. You request to go to MSRT Location X, Y, Z. Then the detailer (the person that gives out the assignments to people) says you go here, you go there, you go everywhere. If you get your first choice and that is an MSRT, that's where you will go. If you get your 3rd choice and that's a big, white needle of death (a CG cutter) then that's where you will go.

There are very few to no guarantees in the military for any unit. But I can almost promise you coming straight from high school, coming straight from college, chances are fairly low. I don't believe there are many, if any, nonrates at MSRT units.

I don't know why but I'm laughing at people going around saying "I'm MSRT". Okay onto your questions.

Going off what Old Guard said, there are no non-rates at MSRT. Just ME3's and up. They also changed/are changing the way you get to MSRT which I think is a good thing.

They just recently (within the last couple months) changed the way you go to MSRT now. I dont know how familiar you are with the whole process, but they now have a screener that you put in for during the last 2 years of your current tour. If you get invited to go, you try out and if they like what they see, they issue you orders to come to MSRT. Then you start the pipeline training process. Like I mentioned a couple posts ago, its a year to 2 years to finish. Slightly off topic but I'm glad they are doing the screener now. It "somewhat" falls in line with the rest of the military SOF programs. Obviously it's much shorter but still better than the old way.

So to recap. Join the CG, graduate boot camp, go to your first unit, put your name on the ME A school list (its currently closed for the foreseeable future due to a long wait time), go to ME A school and graduate, go to your next unit, wait a year or two, request to go to MSRT screener, go there and do well, then get orders to go to MSRT and start the training pipeline. Good luck.

Thanks, I honestly should post it in the ME forum. It hasn't been talked about here yet and it's good info to know. But for all we know it could change in a year or so.

Stealth, with the CG it can change in the next 5 minutes. But at least it is accurate for today!
