My father served in the USCG during WW2 and spent 1 year and 11 mos. in the South Pacific. He served aboard the CGC Mesquite and Rp. Navy 920 is also listed as a duty station. My questions are: 1) What or where is Rp. Navy 920? 2) Does anyone have information about the CGC Mesquite during WW2?

I am in the same "boat."  My father was also listed as serving aboard "Navy 920."  I checked with various Naval and CG historians, neither of whom could provide information.  However, I found a refernce to Navy 920 online that shows it was "somewhere in the Pacific."  I believe it was a coast guard vessel of some sort attached to the Navy.  It may have been equivalent to the FS ships that were attached to the army.  I would be interested in sharing whatever you and I can find about this ship.

My father also served on N920 two different times as a USCG in WW2. As a young boy I remember

asking him about his USCG service in WW2. Like most WW2 Vets, he never said much except his

final rating was a Boatswain Mate 2nd (RT). He also told me he served on a LST couple times as well
as a supply ship . I recently sent off for a copy of his complete military records and it listed him as
serving twice on CGRP N920 (8/6-10/1945 and 9/9-25/1945). I am pretty sure it was the LST he
spoke of. I Goggled LST 920 WW2 and went to images to see photos of the vessel and it was as
he describe. I was in the Pacific coast area during that time. It won one battle star during the war
