I'm looking into joining the reserves. However, I'm also applying to colleges to pursue full time graduate work. The local recruiter has said that the coast guard is very flexible in scheduling the required drills and that you can almost pick your days. Is this a fair statement? I am very interested and do want to serve. However, I want to be careful that I won't run into conflicts with my reserve responsibilities and school. If I get called up, there's no question, I go where they tell me. But I want to make sure that the normal 2 day / month, 2 weeks / yr won't stop me from going to school. Any help here would be appreciated.
