    Hello,
I'm hoping for some direction here. I will try to be brief, but there's a lot of info.

My son was set to ship out to BC in September (all cleared medically, papers signed).  However, over the summer he had a cyst removed and ingrown toenail removed.  This was all so unexpected.

All paperwork, doc notes/labs and even a handwritten note from the doctor explicitly stating the nature of the cyst (fluid only-non cancerous....)--all of this was submitted--and re-submitted.
Anyhow, ship date was cancelled.  In addition, our recruiter went on leave and my son's processing was handed over to someone else.  A new pre-screen had to be filled out and re-submitted.  That was done the first week of October 2018.
    We have heard nothing.

His ASVAB will expire in May 2019.
We have checked in with our new recruiter weekly.  I know the office is extremely busy, and I also know due to our recruiter going on leave, our son's processing was not the only one this new recruiter inherited.
Time is passing and we are all becoming very discouraged.  Our son's life is put on hold and we are really at a loss of what to do because we are not getting answers.  We have only been told our paperwork is held up at MEPS.

Seeing he WAS cleared and with a ship date, the medical paperwork recently submitted was about 4-5 pages, I guess I would have thought we would have an answer by now?

    Any ideas or direction?
    Thank you so much.

MEPS and the docs there move at a pace that is not easily explained. The only thing that can be said is they hand;e all branches of the military. So if there were a sudden influx of medical reports to review, it will take a while. Keep doing what you're doing, staying in close contact with the recruiter. It isn't up to the recruiter but as long as they know you're still interested, they'll continue to work on your sons behalf. Any change in medical status, even something benign and simple, can hold up a recruit from shipping.

Your original recruiter isn't back from leave? Was this an extended leave or did they actually transfer? Either way, keep working with the recruiter you are working with now. Stay on top of it without being annoying. It will resolve itself. Hopefully before his ASVAB score expires.

    Thank you.
Our original recruiter will be on leave for probably a few more months.
We will try not to be annoying--however--we are extremely afraid of falling through the cracks.
    Thanks so much again.

This is something your son should be staying on top of, not you. It's his career not yours and he's responsible for it, even at this stage. That being said, he needs to contact the recruiting office and find if his application package has been handed off to another recruiter. That would make sense if his original recruiter is going to be out for an extended period.

Chief is correct, your son should be handling 99.9% of all of this on his own. He might need a little guidance from you but this is his job interview. Let him handle the great majority of it, better than the great majority.
