Got a few ques about the CG.

First off I'm a prior service marine corps(4yrs) and was a 7041 aviations operations specialist. Am currently serving a one year trial period in the ARNG as an E-4. 26yrs old with an Re-1A enlistment code(eligible for reenlistment)

What is the 4 week prior service boot camp like? How hard is the swimming qualifications? What will I have to pass?

After the boot camp what will I do? Will I get a choice of duty stations? I understand I'll come in as an E-3 but how hard will it be to get back to E-4?

I'm married w/ children and my wife and I were wondering about housing? How good is the CG to famlies? Are there programs for the families that are in all the other services?

How much sea time will I have to fullfill?

How hard is it for a prior service to get into the CG?<!-- Edit -->

    Hello,

Yes it does seem that no one every post answers, at any rate my husband is prior army E-5 Sgt and was a 88 Nov Transportation. He will be leaving for the 4 week prior service PITSTOP class in two weeks. He is also going in to another field so he will also have to go to A School in pertaluma california for 16 weeks. The pitstop school is in Cape May NJ, you get ther E-4 when you finish A school if you have to go. As for housing if you are stationed on a base that has housinf then you will live there, if you are near another branch other service base the Coast Guard has alloted housing there also but if none of that applies then they have a leasing agent and what thay do is the Coast Guard signes a lease for you in there name with people whom they have a releationship already, (apt. private owners ect,) As far as how hard the class is no clue my husband doesnot leave until the 16th of Feb. I will update you when I know.... But my neighbors are in the coast guard and we still have our qrts on the Army base, they say that the CG is the best life ever they are great with families. The CG has a lot of educational oppturnities for the service member and the spouse.  The process of getting in will take about 4-6 months to be honest we started in May of 2004 6 months before my husband ETS for the Army and we just signed the contract 12/28/2004, we have also been to a CG ball while still Army it was GREAT lol...

Good luck and I hope this helps,

If you go all you will need to purchase for PITSTOP is white socks, black socks, and V neck T-shirts. All the other items are given to you even Shoes for PT.

GOOD LUCK AND  SORRY IT"S TOOK SOMEONE SO LONG TO REPLY

I am posting a reply cause I am hope'in that you spouse is reading the page still, I was wondering if she has heard from you yet or if she has gotten any address information on you yet, I heard from my husband on Thursday night when they were pulling through the gates at the base. My husbands name is Reaves... I hope we can all meet at the graduation I and the children will be there.. If you (the Spouse) need to communicate feel free. I hope your children are dealing with the sepration better than ours are..

Good luck and let us know where you all end up .

    God Bless !!!!
