Looking for general information on the DCO school from anyone who has recently gone.  What's the course like?  Tempo? Anything that can be reviewed prior to the course? Etc.

Don't worry about reviewing anything prior to the course.  The tempo runs pretty much M-F 730-4.  The day typically starts with a uniform inspection of some sort, and then you're in class the rest of the day. An early day may be 2 and a late day may be 5, 530. My biggest recommendation is make sure you can pass the HPR with a 180 before you get there, and if you can drive there, do it. If you have to fly, you can safely pick a flight based on being able to leave the academy around 10am after graduation is complete, so you can plan your flight around that.  If you have to take an uber to/from the airport, you can get that reimbursed when you do your travel claim.  Bonus points if you have your CAC/email/pay set up beforehand.

As far as the HPR, if you're going in the summer, the track is indoor, but it's also really hot in the gym.  So the heat may take some time off your run.  It's also like 13 laps for the mile and half, so can get pretty monotonous.

For uniforms you need ODUs, Trops and SDBs. Whatever you don't get before you go, you can get there.  But you're in trops until everybody has a set of ODUs.  We were in trops for 2-3 days I think, so if you can get your ODUs set up before hand, that makes it a little easier for everyone else.  You can definitely get by with 2 sets of ODUs or even 1 if they're nice, and a set of trops with maybe an extra shirt.  Laundry is free in munroe, and often people leave extra detergent in there, although I brought some pods.  If you haven't worn a military uniform before, google pictures of what the uniform is supposed to look like, or actually take a look at the uniform regulations (CIM_1020_6J) which is control f-able.  Also if you haven't rolled ODU sleeves before, just youtube a video, there's tons on there.

Food is pretty limited on the academy.  You're forced to eat lunch at the chow hall, but breakfast and dinner is on you.  You're free to eat at the chow hall, or theres a little burger/sandwich shop called the dry dock right next to munroe hall (where you stay).  Uber/uber eats has no problem getting on base as well.  The exchange is right across the street from you, and has pretty much anything you need to survive for your time there.  They also have screaming deals on clothes, I had to get extra bags to bring home all the stuff I bought there.

You get treated like adults for the most part, although if you're a prior it can be painful.  If you want something changed and have a good reason for doing so, bring it up to the staff as they're pretty flexible.

Munro hall has double rooms so you'll have a roommate. Each room has its own bathroom. Each floor has its own laundry, a common room, and computer lab.

Liberty was granted on nights and weekends after the PT test. So no liberty for the first 3 days (including a weekend) I was there. After that as long as you had passed the PT test we didn't have restrictions on nights and weekends.

I realize i'm reviving an old thread, just curious if you or any of your school mates were in grad/advanced schooling during the DCO course? Asking because I am in a PhD program and would like to stay in at least one course while in DCO school if there is enough provided to make it feasible.
