Hello, thanks to anyone taking the time to read this message. My name is Brennen. I’m from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I am 27 years old and am currently a welder Apprentice at Huntington Ingalls Industries. It has been a long term dream/goal of mine to join the coast guard. I have about a year left until I graduate from my Apprenticeship program. After that I want to start the enlistment process for the USCG. In summary, I’m looking for any potential recruits that are from the coastal area (say a radius from Mobile, Al. - New Orleans, LA.) or anybody in Mississippi that’s in between. I’m looking for people that I can train with, learn, and grow with together in preparation for this dream to be fulfilled. I’m getting older, will be 28 in a few more weeks at the time of writing this. Basically, anybody that has a serious desire to join the USCG and may be interested in teaming up with me, even if it’s simple as working out together or studying, I’d greatly appreciate it. Also if there are any active duty, or reservist in the area that may consider mentoring/teaching me, I’d make it worth your effort. P.S I tried linking up with the auxiliary for a time, but as great and knowledgeable as those guys were they were only interested in doing things during work week hours. (All retired guys) |

Welcome! Have you gotten in touch with a recruiter to get the ball rolling yet? |

No I haven’t. It’s something I’m not to much of a hurry to do just yet. Thanks for the welcome. |

You're approaching the age limit of enlistment unless you get a waiver or join a critical rating. You may want to hurry up the process just a bit. I'd get in and talk to a recruiter. 28 is the max age for enlisting. |

I don’t want to go active duty. Just Reserves. If I’m not mistaken the ages for reserves is higher. |

Then you have a few years to work with. Cut off is 31, unless you qualify for DEPOT. Look here for further... https://www.gocoastguard.com/reserve-careers/enlisted-careers/reserve-enlisted-programs |

CPORJM, Is DEPOT still going on? I went to boot camp from OCT2019 to DEC2019 and didn't see any DEPOT classes. It's possible there wasn't a class during that time at all, not sure. How many DEPOT classes usually happen per year? |

Yes. Those classes just don't run as frequently as the regular boot camp |
