I am a UAV pilot flying RQ-4s for Air Force. I'm an O-2 with 3.5 years of AD service and 3.5 years remaining on my ADSC.
I'd like to go Coast Guard to either fly UAVs or get myself back on the water on cutters.
I have held an OUPV 6-pack captain license for 5 years and and would love to couple that with my AD experience for a PTMO package.
A few questions:
- Can anyone speak to the Coast Guard's current and future acquisition of unmanned aircraft and their need for unmanned pilots in the coming years?
- What are the current acceptance rates through Coast Guard for inter-service transfers via PTMO program?
- I realize the likely best route will be to complete my remaining ADSC with AF, and hopefully make a quick transition into CG. If I follow through with separation, are my chances of acceptance greater through OCS or PTMO?
Many thanks!
