    Ironically, we were just researching the same question in our office.

    In the financial world, ROANW is Return On Net Worth.

    However, in the world of certificated vessels, and the Able Seaman Rating;
     I seem to recall it means Rated On A Navigational Watch. Do not count on that as Gospel until I can lay my hands on regulatory or USCG policy.

    I am also trying to research what the specific qualifications and/or training are for this rating and would appreciate any direction that you could provide.
