I saw the top three DCE made LTJG. How does someone commission straight to LTJG? |

Usually, it’s due to either prior service at a higher or equivalent grade (CPT in Army goes to LTJG in CG, step down of 1 rank) or to make pay more equivalent due to outside education (a masters degree, or similar to how PAs usually commission as LTJG to account for increased schooling required) |

Interesting, but doesn't appear to have anything to do with officer recruitment |

Talent management and the mission ready total workforce are germane to the conversation. Admiral Schultz addressed officer commissioning/recruiting in a larger context during the State of the CG, albeit was omitted from the article. |

So do we think this next board will be better or about the same? |

Skater, from what I've been told due to the situation with available billets for Junior officers or JO's I would expect the next panel to have very few primary selectees like this last panel but I could be wrong. |

Skater, unsure. I would probably agree with Real Quick. What's interesting is that the Commandant specifically stated that 2,500 Officers will be commissioned over the next 5 years, half from non-academy sources. That's 250/yr... Or 125 per semi-annual board. I just don't understand how they expect to get there at current pace. Video doesn't match the audio type deal. |

I'm not yet at this point, but is the requirement for the DCA program below a hard and fast rule, or is it possible to get a waiver? I have a couple more boards before I would hit this point, but planning ahead. Max Active Duty Service: Have less than 10 years of non-Coast Guard active-duty military service as of the date of accession, which is equivalent to the date that the applicant, if selected, will take their oath of office. |

Non academy sources also includes OCS. |

Nothing yet. I asked my recruiter recently and he told me the chances they are going to pick any alternates are slim. Hopefully he is wrong. |

This is absolutely waiverable. I want to say it's waiverable to 13. |

No news on my end. I'm also waiting for chief orders since I made the cut for that. So lots of waiting on my end. Really hoping I make it as an alternate so I don't end up pcsing and possibly making it next round and pcsing again. |

Prefer the jobs, advance faster, better retirement. I’m in it for the long haul. |
