Hey does anybody know when the panel convened? From the looks of past boards it's usually the Friday 6 weeks after the board date.

Talked to Baltimore recruiting office yesterday. Panel started August 16th and recruiter expects results any day now. Which is an update from my previous post of mid to late October. Additionally, I looked at srdc announcement results on AllCoast Messages for the last 6 years. There is no rhyme or reason and have come out on random days every year. So no written or unwritten rules about Friday. Last year it took a full 7 weeks before results were released.

I haven’t. I’ve been mobilized this week so I haven’t been able to login in to CGPortal and check the allcoast messages. CG Portal is where the recruiters would check the SRDC announcement. I don’t think there has been an announcement yet though because someone’s recruiter would have said something and they would have likely have posted it on here. My recruiter hasn’t let me know yet either. Here is a link for the public allcoast announcements:
    https://www.dcms.uscg.mil/General-Messages/ALCOAST/
In CG portal they’ll post it under recruiting. In the website I just listed recruiting isn’t included but I’d hope they would post the announcement under officer or general messages.

Well that sucks I don’t see my name. 4 years Marine Corps, Bachelors degree and 3 years of law enforcement. I wonder what more I need to make the cut. Good luck to all who are going!

@deputy I didn't make it this year, either, and I've got 6 yrs AD w/ USCG and a STEM Masters. 4 years non-USCG mil + Bachelors might be a tough sell for SRDC.

I’m not sure what they want. My time in the Marine Corps was spent in the Infantry with two tours over seas one being Combat. My bachelors is in communication studies with a minor in sociology. I have three years as a street cop dealing with everything from murders to drug busts. I’m not sure what SRDC is looking for but I hope those who made it nothing but success.

I feel your pain Deputy, who knows what they want. I have an electrical engineering degree with high honors from a top 5 engineering school, a masters in applied math from a top 10 school, 3.7 gpa, both according to us news. I’m working on a masters in computers science from Stanford one of the best in cs schools in the world. I literally designed the electronics in the display of the f35 fighter jet. I spent 6 years active on submarines, 2 years in the coast guard reserves deploying twice. High marks in my evaluations. Glowing recommendation letter from my CO and I got placed the the alternatives but not high enough to realistically make it. Semper fi

These are some pretty incredible accomplishments listed above by bigold and deputy. I don’t know what your packages entailed however looking at the accomplishments and looking at great leaders what seems to be lacking is what have you done for others. Community involvement, ability to develop and lead personnel. Someone having great success in particular areas might not make them equip to lead tomorrow diverse coast guard. Realistically you will be doing far more leading of other people than you will creating submarine programs, or having incredible law enforcement careers. The success of your people under you is far more important than your own success.

Biscuit thats some good feedback. Maybe i spent my too much space in my narrative on delineating my technical skill set in order to distinguish myself and not enough on highlighting my leadership ability. I assumed because i would be going in as an ensign and because the military has a strong tradition of curating leaders that I'd be able to get leadership training and develop my own leadership style in the 5 years or so it takes to make lieutenant. I did though TA for two semesters while in college teaching a class of 30ish people. I was leader of my senior design team that created a telepresent robot. I am currently leading a team of 6 technicians, and two junior engineers at my current job. I indicated this on my resume this last cycle but will now work this into my narrative this upcoming one. I whole heartedly agree with your last statement and i will add, the success of the people under you is what causes you to have success.
