Hi, My name is Tara and I am a future member of the USCG. I leave for Bootcamp july 27th, 2010. Semper Paratus!! I graduated college 2 yrs ago and decided soon after that I wanted to join the military. I was originally going AF but my brother convinced me otherwise. He is an E-5 AMT stationed at Sector Detroit but next month is moving to Elizabeth City, NC. I have a small photo album of him on the job in my community profile. Once I arrive at my first duty station i will start working on my OCS packet and will turn it in as soon as the next OCS board meets. |

Tara, Glad your brother talked you into the good service. Welcome aboard, I hope boot camp goes smoothly. Be sure to check back in after boot and let us know any good stories. In the meantime, if you have any questions and your brother isn't around, just let us know how we can help. Macie |

I graduated on Sept 17th. It was a long and tough 8 wks for me. The physical part wasnt that bad since I came in already in good shape. The mental games got to me a few times. It took a lot for me to be able to keep a straight face when the CC's were purposely trying to get you to laugh. It also sucked being humiliated in front of a large group of people but I handled it well most of the time.
I got the station I wanted which is Station Port Aransas in Port Aransas, Tx. Its a small boat station so I should have a lot of fun with SAR and Law Enforcement. I am quite excited about reporting in next week.
If you got any questions, let me know!

I report end of this week and then will work hard to get qualified and then as soon as I get qualified I will put my name on the HS "A" school list. At some point I want to go to a billet where I can become a Flight Medic and the only 2 states with Flight Medics are Hawaii and Alaska. So Ill hopefully be able to do that at some point. I may also choose to go to OCS in a few years or wait til i make E-6 and go to Physician Assistance school and then go to OCS..Right now Im just working hard to get qualified and get to "A" school as soon as possible (18-24 months.) v/r SN SAGESER |

Wow very cool, sounds like you got some awesome plans for your career in the CG! Good luck to you on your first assignment, keep your head up during tough times, and look forward to your future in the CG and the many different paths that you can take. Stay out of trouble and stay away from trouble makers, makes the best times as a non-rate since those are probably going to be the times that you will always look back too the most! If you haven't alreasy done so, take a peek at the requirments needed for HS "A" School (I would imagine that you've already have since you seem ahead of the game). Again good luck to you and your Coast Guard Career! "A" School Requirements http://www.uscg.mil/psc/epm/docs/A-...ol-Req.pdf |

Hey now, now, those fun times are over! Now is when you get to shine, get out there and make a difference, always go above and beyond what's expeceted of you (even during un-favorable duties), trust me soon or later it will pay off! Make sure people know that your a Coastie with U.S. Coast Guard! |

| Fighting spirit.- You know what this is. Without it, you are only a human biped who wears pants. With it, you are a live, red-blooded go-getter-one who will succeed. Have you the grit to stay with a hard job? Never say "I can't." Forget there is such a phrase. Don't be a quitter. "A man may be down but never out" - until he admits it."
