My name is Joshua and I'm 20 years old. I'm very interested in joining the Coast Guard. I want to enlist for full time service. On your website i noticed that it said GED's are accepted in special circumstances. What are these circumstances? I had taken the ASVAB in high school before i decided to get my GED, due to personal matters. According to some recruiters I've spoken with, i ranked very high, but my actual score i do not know. Many recruiters in other branches of the service said it would be better if i took some college courses before enlisting. The problem is this; I have attended college, and things didn't quite go according to plan, due to family and financial matters. I know a GED isn't as credible as a High School Diploma, but if the recruiters know what im capable of due to my ASVAB scores, why should this hold me back? Im in quite a pickle right now, and i could sure use the discipline, the money, the knowledge, adventure and experience. If someone could just point me in the right direction, there would be no turning back. What should i do?
