    a while back someone posted an interesting story about a uscg vessel that sank.  about how i believe 5 of the crew were able to chance it and swim out, the rest perished. 
    i now have time on my hands and would love to research and read more about this....but i can't find the post with the boats name.

    i know someone can help me?

    Hmm., no mention of fatalities in the Wikipedia article, although it did sink once while in dry dock.

    I did spend a little bit of time trying to find a Coast Guard cutter that sank with exactly 5 survivors but no luck yet.

    The Coast Guard history office has a list of cutters lost.<!-- Edit -->

    Try the USCGC Blackthorn that sunk in Tampa Bay 28 January 1980 when it was struck by a commercial vessel in a late night fog.
