    Prior Enlisted now Coast Guard,

    If you are a prior enlisted member who is now serving in the Coast Guard please let me know how you like it.  Also, were you able to start the process while you where on Active Duty serving with the Army, Navy, AF or Marines?  The reason I am asking is that I am due for seperation in Aug of 06 and I am trying to make a choice weather to re-enlist or join the CG.  My brother is in the CG and loves it, I would like to know from the aspect of a prior enlisted member from another branch now serving with the CG. 

    The areas that interest me right now are BM,MK and or GM.  I also would like to go to boarding officer school later on when and If I join, so if you have completed that school could you let me know how you liked it and  how hard was it to get in the school.

    i wasnt prior service but i had a guy in my company that was he was prior service army and did some time in iraq unfortunately for him his active duty was only for a total or 18 months since he was in the reserves and had to go through regular boot camp rather than pitstop..which is much shorter i think 4 weeks....good luck

    My husband who is now on the Hamilton was Army for six years and loves the change, he had to wait to start his paperwork for the switch until he had six months left on activity duty. We have kids and even as a family it has been a GREAT SWITCH. He went through the 4 week Pitstop and then 5 months of A School.
