Carlton,
Dishcarged, as in ... permanently?... like you can never go back?

I got a re enlistment code of RE3 so whenever I think Im ready and if I decided to go back I can. With an RE3 I can re enlist into any service including the coast guard.

I wont go into a lot of detail. But I was recommanded for discharge because they felt I wasnt motivated, committed and had no respect for authority. I disagree with the respect for authority. But it got to a point where I didnt want to be there anymore. Me getting sick and the way I got reverted had something to do with that. I just couldnt handle it anymore. I guess had I not gotten sick, they handle the reversion better and not send me mixed signals I wouldve been fine. But it just went down hill. And when I say sick, I felt terrible. A coug that never went away. Sore throat, running nose. I always felt light headed. Medicine didnt work. I just felt terrible and it showed in my performance.

Not trying to knock you here, but for the sake of those reading this, I want to make it clear that you will not get into the Coast Guard with an RE-3 code. It HAS to be an RE-1 to even be considered.

Cooch,

I understand what you are saying. I was just stating what I was told at boot camp when I spoke with the Lieutenant during the discharge process. He told me I could re enlist into the coast guard later.

Just throwing it out there...ALL recruits get sick with the "Cape May Crud". For those reading this, you have to push thru that. My husband got really sick AND had a sprained ankle that he choose to not complain/tell anyone about cause he didn't want to get reverted. His motivation was me and our daughter, find something to push yourself thru all the crap and you'll do fine.
