My recruiter just called me. I'm going on Jan 19th. I am from Puerto Rico, I'm not used to the cold... but I know that it will be awesome!

I think is a good date, just after the Holidays!

My daughter left last January from Hawaii.  We have the same island weather as Puerto Rico.  It was tough but she made it and so will you.  They do issue some awesome cold weather gear.  Congratulations and good luck!

    Thank you very much!

Is the same weather, that's for sure. I heard our Coquí has invaded Hawaii... We are so far and yet is the same, except for the volcanoes and the big waves. smile. I hope I'll be stationed at some time over there. It will be like home. scool

Oh yes, lots of noisy coqui for sure~  Not so much on our side of the island but they are a nuisance.  I think you would find Puerto Rico and Hawaii very similar.

What's ya size and weight Ghettomagnet? I never thought I'd have this problem, but I'm only 3 pounds under the limit at this time, lol. 5'6 167 and I can't be over 170. 2 years of hard work and dedication gaining 30 pounds and now I have to keep weight off. Training is going to be veeeeeeeery different from now on lol.

mkelly, I'm in to fitness quite a bit but I've never really had interest in losing or maintaining. I'm running a lot more but I'm scared of losing too much muscle mass that I've built up. I still do resistence training, but with higher reps and lower weight. I've mostly been doing full-body workouts to augment my running. My diet hasn't changed all that much. I'm still eating about 3,000 calories a day. I assume it's ok because of my muscle mass and the fact that I'm burning more calories with the running. I also play softball 5 nights a week and tournaments every 2 weeks, so the cardio is there. I believe I'm doing things ok, does this sound about right?

That sounds about right really. It just depends on what your % body fat would be right now. I'm sure you dont want to lose muscle so you would have to go the body fat route without gaining any muscle. With Running, I'm sure you are probably going to lean up a little bit if you keep your calorie count down a little. If it doesnt work for you right now, cut back a little bit of calories or lean up your diet. I'm not sure what your diet is like but that can effect some things as well. I'm sure if you have been working to put on muscle mass, you should have your diet down to a pretty good science. I would talk to some guys at your gym that are into body building and ask what they do to safely lean up before a show. Try to take their advice and make it into something that will work for you. No dehydration though and be safe about it. I'm sure you'll be fine. Let me know how its coming along.

Hey. I don'y know if any of you have taken a spin class but it would be a good idea to try to get in to a couple of them before boot camp. I've heard about the cycling workouts they do and they sound pretty tough if you're not familiar with cycling. Taking a couple of classes will at least give you some confidence and prepare your muscles for that type of W/O. Hope everybody is ready to go!!!!

Yea I've got it pretty down pat. I think I'll just cut calories a little while keeping the same carb/fat.protein intake. I think I'm gonna try one of those spinning classes this week....

Doing great. I was training hard then decided to get my wisdom teeth out because I didnt want them to do it during basic. That set me back about a week and now I'm back to training again. Running, swimming, lifting quite a bit. Well, not lifting too much, I'm not big into weight lifting. Is anybody shipping from California on the 19th?

I had my wisdom teeth taken out, I got sick, and now I'm back to working out and surfing again. I had about a month off from the wisdom teeth and being sick. Time to hit it hard now before we ship! How is everybody?

I'm doing good, been running a lot and studying all the required knowledge. I'm glad I had all my wisdom teeth taken out last year around this time. Does anyone know if there is gonna be an x-ray during the physical when we get to bootcamp?
