I got guaranteed district 11. What are my odds I'll be stationed in California? What about more specifically San Diego?

If there are billets available, you have a good chance. If there aren't, you have no chance. It is a gamble there are no guarantees in this man's military! But best of luck!  I'm guessing you like San Diego... only been there once myself. It was nice. Hard to tell what a place is like when you only spend 4 days there. |

what type of unit you looking at, there is some big boats in SD that you could go to. I would write more but hurricane season is here in the keys and my power is about to go out. |

We had about 7 people go to San Diego, probably another 5 more to other places in California. It's all luck of the draw! I got my number 5 pick for Alaska so I'm happy, remember even if you get put in Neah Bay or something similar, every place is what you make it, good or bad! |

I'm ready for anything really, if I get put on a cutter that will be fine, or a small boat station. I would like to be in San Diego just because I have a lot of family there that I haven't seen in a while and miss them! but really as long as I'm near the coast I'll be fine! : ) It's kind of exciting not knowing where I'll be 5 months from now. I looked up Neah Bay, pop. 794. Ouch, that would kind of stink : / But like you said and I totally agree.... It's what you make of it. |

Lol well Im from San Diego, lived here for 19 years. All i gotta say about it is, Perfect Weather. GO PADRES, and WOOO WOO CHARGERS 4 LIFE. |

Agreed! My dad grew up in San Diego so I grew up wearing padres hates and chargers shirts! And yes, perfect weather, I always hated coming back to Tulsa after spending a summer in San Diego, its humid here and in the summer its usually about 95 degrees, with a few days reaching 110 |

My daughter is stationed on the Hamilton in San Diego and she is LOVING it there!! She loves San Diego. She grew up in HI and I think it is pretty similar as far as it is pretty much a surf culture. I have to say, she doesn't let any grass grow under her feet - she is constantly on the move, doing something, going somewhere, road tripping, whatever. I can hardly keep up!!! |
