I am a senior in high school at the moment. I will graduate mid May. I have always wanted to be in the Coast Guard. I love the ocean, swimming, and taking risks. I enjoy helping others in times of need. I wouldn't mind risking my life for the protection or lives of others. I think it would be very honorable. I would very much like to do a job relating to law enforcement, b/c that is what interests me most. That combined w/my love for the ocean, I think this job as a Coast Guard will be both enjoyable & rewarding for me. HOWEVER! I am REALLY worried about boot camp. Not so much b/c of the physical part of it. I love running, in fact I'm in track at school. I enjoy keeping myself in shape. BUT! I am worried about the military glasses. I wear contacts (couldn't see without them)... so I think I will be issued a pair! I DO NOT BY ANY MEANS WANT TO HAVE TO WEAR THESE GLASSES!!!! I want to wear my contacts through training. It doesn't take me but 2 seconds to put them in or take them out. They never fall out or create any problems for me. I am a bit of a girly girl in the way that I care about my appearance. I realize that in basic it would be ridiculous to try to "look good", so I understand that I won't have "hair & makeup time". I can live with that for 8 weeks... BUT NOT THOSE GLASSES! And with a little geek strap, NO WAY! Is there ANY way around this? ANY WAY AT ALL? I think those glasses would make a difference in my performance, b/c I would be thinking about them & my confidence would dramatically suffer! I hate to sound so dramatic on such a "small" issue, but I am stressing this! I'm all about being professional & sacrificing for my job or duties, but THOSE GLASSES!

Just tell me there's a way around them!
