I left the Academy after 3 years was placed in the Individual Ready Reserve as a BM3. I have about 5 months left before I'm a "true civilian" again. However, I've been entertaining the idea of going back into the Active Reserves.
A few questions:
1) What sort of training do I have to go through? REBI?
2) Taking for granted that I can re-enter at the same rate/rank from the IRR, would it be possible for me to extend the amount of time IN the IRR so I have longer to re-enlist?
3) ... or if that date passes, can I re-enlist still at the same rate/rank, or is it start-all-over-again with basic training? (I want to avoid that at all costs. Been there, done that).
4) What is the flexibility with duty stations? I'd don't want to turn down a lucrative job offer I've gotten out of state, just because I have to keep drilling at the same local small boat station.
Any help/advice/private emails are welcome and appreciated.
Have a great Coast Guard Day!
